The Bellevue Hospital’s (TBH) Family Birthing Center (FBC) welcomed the first baby of 2019 on New Year’s day.
Carter Douglas Estep, who shares a middle name with his maternal grandfather, and great-grandfather, weighed in at 8-pounds, 11-ounces and was 21 ½ - inches in length. He was delivered by Corey Fazio, D.O., at 2:16 p.m. on Jan. 1. He is the son of Brittany Cooper & Gary Estep of Bellevue.
Carter joins two other siblings, big brother Tristan, age 5 and sister Hayden, age 10 mos.
“I was induced on Jan. 1 at 5:30 a.m. and started having contractions around 7:00 a.m. When I first started to have contractions, I thought there might be a chance I would have the hospital’s New Year’s baby, but when Carter didn’t arrive until later that afternoon, we figured there might have been another family that beat us to it. I am so excited that Carter was the New Years baby,” said Brittany.
“What made it even more special was that I delivered him in the exact same room that I had delivered his sister 10 months previously. It made the whole experience even more comfortable and familiar,” continued Brittany.
Carter and his parents received many gifts from local and area businesses for being the first baby of 2019, including $200 from the hospital, and gifts from the hospital Gift Shop.
The family also received various gifts from local merchants, including Forget-Me-Not Flowers & Gifts, Hogue’s IGA, Bassett’s Market, ACE Hardware, Dendinger’s, First National Bank, and Anytime Fitness.
Maternal grandparents are William Cooper, Bellevue, and Heather Fought, Clyde. Paternal grandmother is Gloria Balduff, Fremont.
