The Bellevue Hospital’s (TBH) Family Birthing Center (FBC) welcomed the first baby of 2021 on New Year’s Day.
Declan James Lambert weighed in at 8-pounds, 6-ounces and was 20 ½ - inches in length. He was delivered by Gregory Karasik, M.D. at 2:05 p.m. on Jan. 1. He is the son of Shelby and Darrin Lambert of Sandusky.
Declan joins one other sibling, big brother Zaiden Lambert, age 10.
“I was induced on Jan. 1 and Declan was born about seven hours later. We had no idea we were in the running for the first baby of the year,” said Shelby. “We were very surprised!”
Declan and his parents received many gifts from local and area businesses for being the first baby of 2021, including $200 from the hospital, and gifts from the hospital Gift Shop and TBH Foundation.
The family also received various gifts from local merchants, including Forget-Me-Not Flowers & Gifts, Bassett’s Market, Anytime Fitness, Amsden House Restaurant and Prestige Portraits.
Maternal grandparents are Herbert Stevenson of Sandusky and the late Christy Stevenson. Paternal grandparents are Connie and Ed Chaplin of Hillsdale, MI and Carson Lambert of Grand Rapids, MI. Great maternal grandmother is Mary Keller of Sandusky.
